I shopped a lot before my family bought a Solaire 27 for me as a birthday gift. I have had it six years, I have NEVER been happy with it. If it were not a gift I would have trashed it. I looked at the website. It told all about the company in Whittier Ca. Yet my model was made overseas. 1st turn off. I have tried all the recommended cures to cook with it. I have replaced the burners twice. Once Rasmussen replaced them and the next ones I payed for. It needs them again and now it needs grates @ 145.00 each. plus shipping. It is a bitch to clean and the grates clog up with grease. I have a 4500 lb pressure washer and still have to chip the burnt grease. I cut off almost all the fat for best results. It still clogs up. It does not cook even. Never has
I could have bought a new cheap unit every 3 yrs for what this one cost. One of the dealers that pushed this grill told me they still sell them but also recommended a much cheaper other brand.

You know... I'm still all about the natural wood taste and slight charing.. I have a gas grill now and it's not the same... looks like i need to try the Infra-red before I can make a final decision :-)

Infrared grilling really is the future. The thing is it used to be very expensive - but the portable one you listed is only $340 on Amazon! The other ones start at 2Gs which isp robably why Solaires aren't more popular.
